Scottsdale…home for the next 2 weeks

It’s now time for our voyage to take us from Tucson to Scottsdale, where Kelly has a booth selling her jewelry design line Whiplash Designs.  Before we can make the exodus, and I can’t believe we waited this long, we need to visit one of our favorite dining establishments…

Waffle House!!!

I know that some of you don’t think the Waffle House is a delicacy, but to some of us, from the frigid North, Waffle House is yummy.

Arrival in Scottsdale

So we arrived and got set up in the parking lot at the show, where they had electric and water hookups for us.  No sewer hookups though, so we need to have a service come out and pump it out a couple of times.  I will say, that this is much better than Minneapolis in February.  Here’s the view from my mobile office every day.

And in the evening, it’s just spectacular.

Now I will say, their water setup was pretty messed up.  The water in each row of campers came from one main source, and ran through some big clearish hoses.  We were pretty much at the far end, so the water had to run through all of that to get to us.  All of those hoses were brand new, with a bunch of chemicals/scmutz in them.  We’d turn on the water and start coughing because of all of it.  We’re DEFINITELY not drinking any of it.  Thankfully, 2 days later, someone pulled up next to us and washed their entire camper for a couple of hours.  Finally, after all that water had run through it, the water was OK.

Since we had no water, and needed groceries, we made a run in to Wal Mart.  There’s nothing quite so funny as being in Scottsdale and watching most of the women trying to look all hoity toity walking around in…Wal Mart.  Freaking hilarious.

Daisy’s Great Adventure

At this point, Daisy is still loving life.  We took her in to the show a number of days, and she was pretty much convinced that everyone was there just to pet her.  She was a star attraction there though, and everyone did want to pet her, so I hope it doesn’t all go to her head.  As a matter of fact, here’s a picture of her, draped over my lap, trying to convince me to take her in to the show.

You can’t resist a face like that.  Of course we went in to the show.

Daisy had her first extensive exposure to a bunch of different animals.  She met horses for the first time.  She also met a bunch of dogs, that she wanted to play with, who most likely wanted to attack her.  She’s really sweet, but don’t ever let it be said that she’s a smart dog.  She also met her first camels.  She wasn’t really sure what to make of them though.

While we were in Scottsdale, we also decided to take her to the dog park.  She really seemed to enjoy it, and our desired result was realized…

That’s one tired dog.  Even though she had a really good run around, she still wasn’t interested in the food I accidentally dropped on the floor.

OK, well technically it’s not food.  Since it’s spinach it’s actually food’s food.  It’s what food eats.  Which reminds me, we brought our Traeger grill with us on the trip and it has been awesome.  So far we’ve baked bread and pizza in it, as well as all of the meat that we’ve grilled up.  It acts as a grill and a smoker, with wood pellets as fuel.  We use it a ton at home too.  We highly recommend it if you are looking to take a first step in to smoking meat.

It’s Not All Fun and Games…

If you’ve been following along with everything you may get the idea that the entire trip is just one long vacation.  In all honesty, it has been very relaxing, and we’re very happy to have gotten away for as long as we have.  But when push comes to shove, we’re still working on the road, and we still have our daily and weekly chores to handle.  What’s nice is that we have the time each day to handle these, and the camper isn’t so big that it’s difficult to get cleaned up.  That being the case, sometimes we have to go offsite for fun in the…laundromat.

Let me tell you, there’s some serious excitement going on there…

We’ve got a continuation of this Scottsdale adventure next week…including the sad departure and return trip home.
